The trade-off is that sandy soil compacts differently and can be less stable if it isn't properly compacted in layers during base preparation, so we don't treat a coastal site as automatically easier — just differently prepared. Salt air and coastal humidity are also a long-term factor for reinforcement, which is why we don't skimp on concrete cover over steel in exposed coastal locations.
