Garden, Entry & Side Access Paths

Concrete Paths & Walkways Adelaide

A cracked, uneven or overgrown path is a trip hazard as much as an eyesore. We pour garden paths, side access ways and entry walkways to a proper base and fall, in a finish that suits the rest of your property — from a simple broom finish to something more decorative for a front entry.

About this service

Why Paths Need Their Own Approach

Paths and walkways are narrower and often more awkward to access than a driveway, but they're not a lesser job — a path that's poorly based will heave and crack just as readily as a driveway, and because paths sit right against doorways, gates and garden beds, the consequences of getting levels wrong are immediate and obvious. We check levels carefully against existing thresholds and paving before pouring so a new path actually solves the trip hazard it's replacing rather than creating a new one.

Side access paths in particular often run through tight, shaded spaces where a concrete truck can't reach — we regularly barrow or pump concrete into these areas as a standard part of the job, not an unusual extra.

Site Assessment & Levels
Levels checked against doorways, gates and existing paving so the new path ties in properly rather than creating a new trip point.
Root-Aware Base Prep
Established tree roots identified and worked around or addressed properly rather than pouring straight over them.
Narrow & Tight Access Work
Side access paths and narrow side yards are a routine job for us, including barrow-access sites where a truck can't reach.
Non-Slip Finishing
A broom or light exposed finish as standard for safe underfoot grip in shaded, damp-prone side access areas.
Entry Path Upgrades
Decorative finishes for front entry paths where street appeal matters more than a purely functional side path.
Correct Fall & Drainage
Graded so water sheds away from the house rather than pooling against foundations or door thresholds.

Adelaide's Established Street Trees and Side Yards

Many established Adelaide suburbs have mature street and garden trees with root systems that can heave an existing path over years, particularly along older side access ways. We identify significant roots during the site visit and either work the path design around them or address the root properly before pouring, rather than pouring straight over a root that will just lift the new path again in a few years.

Common questions

Concrete Paths & Walkways FAQs

Yes — barrowing or pumping concrete into tight side access areas is a routine part of our path work, not an unusual job. We'll assess access during the site visit and factor it into the quote.
We identify significant roots before pouring and either route the path around them or address the root properly first — pouring straight over an active root just guarantees the new path will crack and lift again.
It depends on the use — a single-file side access path is typically narrower than a main entry walkway meant for two people to walk side by side. We'll talk through width and layout as part of the design.
No — paths carry foot traffic rather than vehicle loads, so they're typically thinner and use lighter reinforcement than a driveway, which keeps the cost down for this kind of job.
We can generally match or closely coordinate finishes across a property if you're doing multiple areas — let us know at quote stage if consistency across your driveway, path and patio matters to you.
